Welcome to the Southern Ontario Model Airshow website, also known as SOMA. SOMA is the annual Middle Zone fun-fly. This year SOMA takes place on Saturday, September 13th and Sunday, September 14th, 2008 at the Stoney Creek Airfield.
SOMA is proudly presented this
year by the Stoney Creek Hawks. the Niagara Region Model Flying Club, the
Hamilton Flying Tigers R/C Club, and the Burlington R/C Modellers.
Only a $5 admission fee per car.
Come on out and enjoy the fun!!! Food, prizes, commaraderie, and, of course,
FLYING.
Flying is unlimted. Electrics,
scale, funfly, pattern, jets, helicopters, combat, giant scale, and, yes, even
lawnmowers.
On the evening of Saturday, September 13th, live
entertainment will be provided until 10:00pm starring Danny B
and the Brian Gauci Band. Danny B is a veteran blues performer and a favourite
band-mate of the late, great Doug Riley. He combines a smooth, gravelly baritone
with a wild, wailing harmonica style. His humour, relaxed stage presence and
amazing range of repertoire, from ballads and standards to barrelhouse and
boogie, allow him to instantly establish a warm rapport with an audience.
A portion of this years proceeds will be donated to the Children's Wish Foundation.
